Grieving a loss that isn't death
For the ache of losing someone or something dear.

For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.
Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Lord, this loss doesn’t look like the ones people bring casseroles for, but it still hurts, a dream, a job, a season, a relationship that isn’t what it was. Let me grieve it honestly instead of pretending it doesn’t matter. You see what this cost me even when no one else does.
Meet me in this ending. Turn my mourning into something new in your timing, and until then, just stay close while I feel the loss of it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
