Courage
Isaiah 41:10
Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
Notice how much of this verse is God saying what he will do, and how little of it is about what you should feel. One instruction opens it. Then four promises in a row, all in the first person, none of them asking anything of you.
That order matters. Courage here is not worked up from the inside. It is a response to being told something. You are not afraid because you lack grit. You are afraid because the situation is genuinely bigger than you, and nothing in this verse pretends it has shrunk.
Read the last line slowly. Being upheld is not the same as being carried, and it is not the same as being left to it. Someone has hold of you and is not letting go.
