Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.
If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Lord, this family conflict has gone on so long that bitterness is starting to feel normal, and that scares me. I don’t want peace at any cost, but I don’t want a hardened heart either. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to let something go.
Soften whatever has gone stiff between us, starting with me. Where I have contributed to the tension, show me honestly, and give me the humility to make it right. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
