Strength
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
This is the verse on the wristband, and it has been quietly repurposed. It usually gets read as a promise of capability: I can achieve anything. Read the sentence before it and that falls apart. Paul is talking about being content, and he names the two conditions he has learned it in, which are having plenty and having nothing.
So “all things” means all circumstances, not all ambitions. The strength on offer is the strength to be all right in either one.
That is a smaller claim and a far more useful one. Nobody needs help winning. The help is for the version of the week where nothing goes your way and you still have to be a person in it.
